Battery Safety

At TPLC we only use NiMH batteries in our products. NiMH are fully recyclable. With NiMH batteries product storage is simple and non-hazardous. Transportation conditions are also not subject to any regulatory controls. Many other robotics and vacuums contain Li-ion batteries. The technology used in Li-ion batteries is fragile and requires a protection circuit to maintain safe operation. Quicker aging is also a concern when it comes to Li-ion batteries. It is not recommended that a large number of Li-ion batteries are used within a close proximity to each other as one ‘popping’ could cause the neighbouring products to ‘pop’.

Li-ion battery use in robotics has also been responsible for some high profile commercial fires which is why we are committed to using only NiMH batteries in our products.
